Florida Real Estate License Requirements for Sales Associates
To get your Florida real estate sales license, you must meet Florida State’s licensing requirements. All applicants must start by completing an approved sales associate 63-hour real estate course in Florida and pass the end-of-course real estate sales associate examination.
You can take the Florida real estate pre-license course final exam twice. However, if you fail the exams after two attempts, you must take the 63 hour real estate course online again.
*MLS Campus will offer you the retake for free as long as your course is still active.
In addition, Florida State’s licensing requirements are as follows. You must be:
- At least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent qualifications, such as a GED
- Be honest, reliable, and of good moral character
- Disclose if under investigation, convicted of a crime or ever entered a plea of nolo contendere / no contest or guilty.
- Disclose any aliases or A/K/A.
- Disclose if you have had a previous license denied, suspended or surrendered.
Once you have started your sales associate 63 hour real estate course, you must also complete and submit your Florida real estate sales license application to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Applications for the Florida real estate sales associate license must be submitted, along with fingerprints and the appropriate license fee.

Sales Associate Course Final Exam Information
Answer Each Question in Order:
You must answer the questions in sequence. The exam cannot be navigated backward, so ensure you answer each question carefully before moving forward. If you exit the exam before achieving a passing score or if you fail, you must wait 30 days before retaking it.
Prepare with Practice Exams:
The best way to prepare for the final exam is by taking the practice exam multiple times. Each attempt will provide your score and allow you to review all questions, helping you reinforce your knowledge.
30-Day Retake Policy:
If you do not pass the final exam on your first attempt, you’ll receive a link to a second exam. According to Florida real estate regulations, the second exam cannot be taken until 30 days after the first. Alternatively, you can retake the entire course without waiting for 30 days. Both options are free.
End of Course Certificate
After passing the final exam with a 70% or higher score, you can quickly generate a free certificate of completion by clicking the Certificate Icon below the final exam.
Important: You’ll need to present a copy of this certificate to take the state exam.
Can I Become a Florida Real Estate Broker If I Have Two Years’ Experience as a Sales Associate or a Broker License in Another State?
If you reside in a state that has a Mutual Recognition Agreement with Florida, you may be eligible to apply for a Florida sales associate or broker license. Florida has mutual recognition agreements with the following states:
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Connecticut
- Georgia
- Illinois
- Kentucky
- Mississippi
- Nebraska
- Rhode Island
- West Virginia

If you’re not in one of these states, you can still apply for a Florida real estate sales associate license by completing the 63-hour real estate course. Alternatively, if you have two years of experience as a sales associate (within the past five years) or hold a broker’s license in your current state, you may apply for a Florida broker’s license—though this wouldn’t fall under mutual recognition. In this case, you must complete the Florida broker pre-license course and pass the full 100-question state exam.
